At pickup I felt there were a LOT of hidden charges, so my rental cost was nothing like the quotation
Pros:Had the shortest line at the airport. Service was great. Thought I was getting a mid size car & was given a nice SUV.
Rude reps. Over sold insurance when I already had my own insurance. Charged me extra $70 on an already agreed to an amount booking.
We set up the account with ACE rent a car through Kayak. We were hit with an extra charge we didn't expect: dropping off the vehicle in another airport. When we first made the arrangements, there was no mention of the extra charge (maybe Kayak should have told us?), and then when we picked up the car it was unexpected. But the wait at airports was very short and the staff were helpful -- at least the young lady serving us at the counter seemed sympathetic. The manager (in Miami) wasn't too understanding.
Paid for a specific class of vehicle (hybrid) and checked in, provided all information and was ready to pay when I was informed they only had a Nissan Sentra left. Obviously I know car rental companies don’t guarantee you’ll get the exact vehicle but if I booked for a hybrid that’s what I needed and I expected a hybrid vehicle of some kind. Waste of time and glad I didn’t pay ahead. They also asked for my insurance card and wanted to charged me an additional $90 for coverage which they stated was not optional. I’ve never been asked to show my insurance card when renting a vehicle before and typically additional coverage is optional.
