I was so impressed with Alamo during my recent trip. I was traveling with two oversized duffel bags and three kiddos and when the staff on site at the return area saw my luggage, they offered to drive us to the departure drop-off rather than make us walk with all our stuff. It was such a wonderful offer and I was so impressed with the customer service. There was also a friendly staff member waiting when we entered the garage to help us pick out a vehicle, with many good options to choose from. Overall, very impressed with my experience.

The air conditioning was not working in the high mileage car that I was Renting. They tried to talk me into keeping the car because all I had to do is turn the air conditioner all the way down to low and it would work. The guy argued with me for about 3-4 minutes, Before I finally just said give me a different car or I can find a different car rental agency. From there the new car was decent wasn't very clean but drove well.
The service woman was very accommodating to our needs and we were able to pick up and drop off very easily.

The check in process to get the car was awful. The combination of both Budget and Avis was confusing for most people because it wasn’t clear you could use either to check in. Staff was overwhelmed with the volume and several staff members seemed to be disengaged.

Quick, easy pickup and drop off, car was clean and ready to go
Before returning the car, I filled up with a full tank of gas outside of the JFK Airport. When car was returned, the gas odometer pointed to the full level but no one really came to check it. Only after I received the receipt afterwards, it said the gas tank was 13.4 gallon and when they gave me the car it was 14 gallon. So they charged almost $6 based on their rate of almost $10/gallon. I think this is a ripped off. Budget just wants to make extra bucks here and there. When I first got into the car, the dashboard showed what's in the tank cam still drive about 525 miles. After I filled up and returned the car, it showed the gas can drive 541 miles, which means I returned with actually more gas than when I got the car. Never rent from Budget again.

First car was so dirty they gave me a new one. The second car did not have a working a/c and I had to drive two hours to exchange it because all locations were closed during holiday weekend except airport. Third car they gave me was scratched up, beat up and dirty inside. Unreal.
Never again will I rent through kayak/rentalcars.com. I prepaid for my booking. Then, Dollar added a bunch more fees after the fact. Really defeats the purpose of searching and comparing in the beginning. Never again.

The return location is not very easy to get to and when you arrive at the location there is not good signage as to instruct you where to go and what to do when you drop off the car. There’s an Avis sign but not a Dollar sign. No instructions as to where the office is located in the building.

I was given a smokers car. I should have taken it back but I didn't. At the end of the trip the fellow that checked me in dropped the price by $100 to compensate for the smell of the car.

Check in and dropoff were great and car was fine. My only complaint is that it was never made clear nor explained to me that there would be a $500 hold placed on my debit card on top of the price of the rental. I understand the reasons for doing it, I just don't like that it was not explained to me at check in.
Received a car with a dead battery. Had to Uber 1 day of trip.

Like every business these days I think the rental lot was a little under staffed so verbal directions on pick up and drop off were lacking but the lot was close to the airport and the shuttle service was quick and easy. All in all the experience was good!
