My reservation was canceled. I didn’t cancel it but was charged triple to rent car
The priceline website explicitly says "Book a car with free cancellation for flexibility" on its homepage when renting a car, which was why I went with them. There's no * character next to this note or anything to hint at it being dependent on the rental company. I had to cancel and refund due to a family emergency and Hertz charges a $100 fee and Priceline would not cooperate with me to cover this $100 fee. It's false advertisement and I will be staying away from both Priceline and Hertz from here on out and warn all my friends and family who ask about car rentals in the future. After all, if they are falsely advertising something like a free cancellation, what else might they be lying about?
Pros:The lady at the Hertz window was friendly. She talked very fast. I was the only customer at Hertz. Most were at the Dollar Car Rental counter.
Cons:My Kayak/Priceline contract indicated $577.93 including taxes, fees, and surcharges which was prepaid. The Hertz agent, charged me an additional $162.68 in taxes and fees. She made it sound like these charges would be removed once the vehicle was returned. It was not, Hertz CS on the phone was no help. Appears to be a scam being ran between Kayak and Hertz. Very disappointed and feel like I was taken. Why would a Hertz agent charge additional....either because she was confused or it is to increase their revenue.
Very smooth process to get the car and return it, all the staff was wonderful!
I am still waiting on my receipt! I have not received it and I specifically asked for it!!! So if you can get that to me ASAP that would be great.
