I made reservations through Kayak and then called their customer support line to confirm my rental. I made sure they understood that the drop off location was different from the pick up. They confirmed and even helped me change the pick up time. I arrived to pick up the rental and they did not have any cars and said they wouldn't have any for a couple of days. I asked if they could help me in anyway or find an alternate location because I needed to get home to my daughter and had three flights cancel the days before. She told me they had a car BUT i had to produce a return plane ticket for that car. I wasn't coming back.. clearly because the drop off location was different. The woman was rude and unapologetic. I was stranded and had to stay at the car rental center for about 8 hours until I was able to find different ways to get home. I will absolutely never ever do that again.

This trip was a complete nightmare in some aspects (mainly flights), but Dollar held our reservation even though we arrived a day late, and had booked through a third party. You can’t imagine the sense of ease I felt when the Dollar agent confirmed it reservation was still valid. Arriving in Vegas at midnight, wit ha family of four, and not knowing if you have a car is a bit stressful. So thank you!! The bad: this could totally be because we didn’t book direct, but the confirmation number I got from Priceline would not work online at Dollar.com nor on the phone. Therefore I was unable to quickly look up or modify my reservation. That would have helped immensely.

What could go wrong renting a car from Dollar? A lot. Had to wait close to an hour for the shuttles to take us to the car rental area- by the time we got there the counter was closed. Most of the other rental places in the airport have virtual check in or other counters cover the check ins after hours- not Dollar. We were lucky enough to get a refund after complaining but ended up spending twice as much for a rental elsewhere because we had to book it at the last minute due to this debacle. I will never again rent through Dollar. Please be wary that if your flight is delayed or you also have to wait for 3 shuttles due to a crowded airport- you may be stranded like we were.

Our flight was delayed, so when we arrived around midnight or 1am, their desk as closed. They left us stranded without a car! A rude worker said there were no cars left and they would open the desk again at 6am. Every other car rental company in Las Vegas was still open, so couldn’t believe we were getting such poor customer service from Dollar. We were able to cancel and rebook with another provider, thankfully, or we would have been stuck at the airport at 1am with no car. Very disappointed in Dollar.
