At the office in Milan my credit card got rejected. I checked with the credit card hotline and they confirmed that the PIN was correct and there was no issue with credit limits. They said the error they were receiving was cryptic and they did not know what to do about this. So I assume that the problem was on Hertz's side, not mine. Despite this (and me standing there with 3 children and it being 38 degrees outside), the Hertz employee made no effort at all to help but kept insisting that this is our problem not hers. In the end, we walked out without a car and tried a different provider (cheaper and more friendly), where the same credit card went through without any problem.

Didn't get the right car class - they claimed I'd ordered a Class A, which I hadn't and which was far too small to fit us all in. Pick up took about an hour as a result. Car was also on scratched all over, then they accused me of causing one of the scratches, which I dispute. No screenwash in car. Very hard to find pick up desk.

Car was not what I had booked-ad was for a Citroen midsize SUV Received an opel cross lander instead When I got to the vehicle I noticed it had multiple scratches on it So I took a video of the exterior of the car just in case. I should have gone back to the counter and asked for a different car but was tired and wanted to get on the road. When dropping the car off. the agent found a scratch that was not on the vehicle inspection I did not hit or damage the car while I had it. No one looked at the car when I was picking it up. The scratch could have happened while parked in the rental lot prior to my picking up the car? But it did not happen while I was in use of the car I refused to sign any paperwork assuming responsibility for any damage to the car.

All was good except upon drop off the gate was closed even though I specifically asked about it being open early. I think the attendant may have been asleep in the booth.
Almost 1 hour waiting in the queue at 11 PM with a small baby... Charging way more than in the booking and the lady was referring to the currency. It was booked for 86$ and I had to pay 116€, very kind... At the end, they gave me 200€ penalty due to a sratch that was not done by me but the guy did not find in the System... worst experience so far with rental car company.

The vehicle reserved for pick up was sitting at the location days before my arrival as I pre checked in and was notified it was there. Upon arrival, I waited an hour before it was my turn, to then be told the car that was sitting filthy in the street was the car for me but the previous driver returned it wish front damage. The car was dirty, not cleaners and damaged. I expressed my disappointment and frustration that if this location had this car sitting there days before my arrival damaged, why wasn’t another car made available especially since I needed this car for 7 weeks. I was told since I needed an automatic there wasn’t anything he could do. But I waited until 1PM he has an automatic coming. I waited from 10AM to 1 PM for my car. This car arrived damaged and dirty. The damages were noted in the paper. I left and tried to switch out the car wjth the other Rime location. Again, automatic economy car. I was told due to the high demand nothing was available. I drove an suv non economical vehicle for 7 weeks. I attempted again to swap out the car and could not. When the car was returned, I was charged 2 different times plus damages and over mileage. All of which did not reflect my contract. My experience was extremely disappointing and would never again do business with this company..
I get car from the smaller category because this was the only one option they have available

It is not worthy, They didn’t allowed to be at the counter before the booking time starts even there were nobody. no clear instructions to drop off at MXP, ended up paying 10€ extra for going into car drop off parking lots but hertz drop off was near Sheraton hotel. Took 3 hours to find it. Ended up paying much more than actual booking cost in total

Staff were very helpful but had to wait a little more than expected for the car to be made available (it was an upgrade). Lucio was terrific and extremely helpful at the receiving end of the process. We are hover not impressed with the fact that as far as we can see, our deposit amount has yet to be returned to our bank account,

Our pick in La Spezia was very good. The staff member that helped us was kind, attentive and informative. Our drop off in Bologna was difficult. The address to us to a closed shop door and no key slot. We saw the garage name on our invoice and found the garage but couldn’t get in. Ended up going into hotel and showing the address and was told it was down the block to the left. We finally found the right entrance to the garage and when we entered the pin code to open the gate, the gate did not open. We kept trying and it finally opened but the problem is the #5 on pin pad does not work properly. This needs repair immediately. Once we drove into parkade we saw the Hertz area and employee waiting for us. What we don’t understand was it was clear they could see us at gate struggling and did nothing to help us. These employees should have come to gate to assist us. The one staff member who checked in our car said it’s nothing to do with him and shrugged his shoulders. This needs to change.

Waited 2 hours to pickup the car. No display for maps on the screen. Couldn't return the car as I wasn't provided gate instructions and had to return the next day to drop off
Terrible. Being charged for damages that do not exist and items like destination fees that were never disclosed

The pick up at airport was fine. The car had some issues in first gear and made it a bit scary when you needed to accelerate quickly, it had a major lag. But the biggest issue was the return location. It was completely innacurate address in Bruneck. I wandered around on foot in the peak heat of the day trying to find it. Asking multiple people for directions. They need to update this, it really ruined the whole experience. It took over an hour to find and return the car.

Pick up was fine but when i needed to drop off an hour late they wanted to charge me an extra day. So, I ended up dropping it off before the drop off time however when I received my bill it said it was late by 2 hours and they charged me. Also, I was charged almost 10x the agreed price to my credit card. Never again.

Cosimo in the Firenze office was wonderful! So friendly and helpful!
When placing the rental there should have been specific instructions that the rental office was not at the same location as where the cars were. We rolled/carried our luggage to Ognissanti only to find out that the cars were back at the train station. Also, no instruction that you had to secure a numbered ticket to be waited as the line was out the door and no one stated to do so.

Not every car has navigation support so we had to upgrade our rental car and overall cost for the rental period. Navigation should be standard now.
There was no one there at the office The car had no oil and the message said stop immediately. After many phone calls with the office they told me to drive the car back regardless off the warning. At the rental station they poored oil all over the engine. Finally they gave me a downgrade car in exchange. They also ask me to go to the nearest gas station to fill up the car. I missed an important appointment.
The car was empty of gas upon pickup. There were various warning lights on in the vehicle upon pickup, including: check engine, low tire pressure, seat belt (although we were wearing), and air bag. The "customer service" agent was a complete hothead.
