I booked through Kayak and it showed Allianz which I guess was a middleman for Nelly or Ace rentals. There they informed that the insurance coverage I paid for thru Allianz does not apply in the D.R. and I had to buy it there. That I could call Allianz and ask for a refund. The $ 29 daily rate plus full coverage cost $117 plus what I paid through Allianz. Will not go through Kayak again unless I can get a refund.
They don’t have what you rent and do nothing to help you They don’t help at all to offer you a solution. And you are there, in the middle of the nothing with your whole family loosing 3 hours trying to get a car somewhere; of course, now you have to paid whatever they want to charge you

We never got the car rental. Because the person who support to attend was not there. So we have to rent another car from another agency. So I want to make sure I get my deposit money back.
The SUV I rented only had 1/8 tank of gas to start with. The white cloth seats were filthy. It looked like some mechanics had sat in there in their dirty work clothes. The rental and return process is rather lengthy, in spite of having a reservation and returning on time.

Extreme additional requirements not listed when reservation was made for example $1500 deposit and pushy about adding additional insurance. When we already had coverage because of our American Express. Car was in poor condition and had several damages to the body of the car that they were aware of but had not repaired . Front desk staff was also rude and took a very long time to process paperwork for a reservation that was made way in advancez
First off, I was disappointed that I was being charged about $25 more at the counter than what my agreement stated, then I noticed the car was a lot smaller then what I reserved, When I got in the car I noticed the cigarette lighter port wasn’t working to charge my phone. I was trying to get a replacement vehicle and was told there isn’t another one to give me at 1st. Since it was 5am I was tired and the going back and forth was overwhelming so I ultimately canceled the whole rental. After I left I was looking over my rental agreement and motive that I was going to get charged a lot more for the car insurance which was all supposed to be declined in the 1st place. So why was I being charged for car insurance after I told the person at the counter that I already purchased case insurance thru Kayak. I’ll NEVER return to Avis again. BUNCH OF CROOKS ..
