It was nice to be able to pick up at an off site location (the Las Vegas Airport Car Rental center is a whole complicated thing). The people were very nice at the location but they gave us a car that smelled bad and had a "maintenance required soon" light on. I went back and asked them about it and they took the car "around back" and did some kind of "disinfectant" treatment to address the smell. That did make it better but the car was actually filthy --spots on the seats, missing floor matt, dusty, just generally not very clean. They also told me the maintenance light was fine because the car didn't need maintenance for another couple thousand miles. Of course as soon as we got on the road and drove 100 miles toward our destination, the light went from "maintenance required soon" to "maintenance required".....we ended up spending 2 more hours at the Hertz in Tucson, AZ switching out the car. The people were great and helpful but we got another dirty car--dusty and the interior wasn't clean My final complain was that unlike most other major car rental companies I've rented with lately that allow you to have your spouse as a driver without an additional charge, Hertz charged $12 a day. Between the unimpressive, dirty car(s) and extra time required to switch out the car that needed maintenance, with no accommodation offered, I won't be renting from Hertz in the future.
