The condition of the vehicle which I reserved was poor compared with vehicles I rented from other rental companies. The fuel tank was half full and vehicle tire had a nail/screw. The rental company said they couldn't fix the tire on site and has to be sent to mechanic for fix. They didn't have a similar vehicle replacement. So, I had to rent from a different location, which added couple of extra wasteful hours to my trip.

Wrong type of car (wanted compact, gave me full-sized sedan) and definitely no "enhanced cleaning". Told me the tank was full but once I got a couple blocks away, I saw it was only 3/4. Since they were slow in the first place, I was running late, so I guess I bought Avis some gas at their exorbitant refueling rate.

I left one of my personal belongings in the rental car after drop-off. When I realized it, I called the Hertz in Brooklyn and they were very helpful and communicative. When I arrived, they pulled the car around and helped me find the item I left behind, I really appreciate the help.

We arrived at the rental pickup… there was a whole line of people waiting for cars and no staff. The other people in line told us that the person on staff had to go to another location to bring back cars because there were none. The staff member came back a half hour later with one car. Each time he left it took about 30-45 minutes for him to come back with another car. There was no communication to the line of people about how long they would need to wait or what the situation was. Just kept saying “give me a minute” and disappearing. We were surrounded by very angry and frustrated customers. Why would the internet continue to say there were cars available when there weren’t. Eventually he came back with a car for us, two hours later than the scheduled pickup time. No discount was provided.

There were no cars when I went to go pick up my reservation. They had 12 parties waiting for up to an hour and a half to get a car that they had reserved. They didn’t offer me a toll pass for my reservation. Also, they never emailed me a confirmation after drop off and when I called customer service, they had charged a $30 late fee, which wasn’t right.

Even though iI requested drop of the same as pick up location the rental had me drop off the Brooklyn. Since I assumed the rental was as I requested I didn’t realize it until I dropped off . They charged me more than $300, a 25% markup. A bait and switch situation. I blame both Kayak and Hertz for this. Shame on you both!!!!!

The car was great and super clean. The gentleman who helped check us in was really friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, when we checked in he was the only person working and thus there was quite a long wait for us to check in but as soon as he got to us he was really efficient.

We called to extend the car by a few hours and when we went to return the shop was closed with no drop box or instructions of what do to. I was able to get in touch with someone who was very helpful and told me to return in the morning. When I returned the following morning there was a massive line of cars to the point that we were all pulled up in the street, blocking traffic. A helpful passerby helped to direct traffic to clear the obstruction from the road, as no one from either rental agency was addressing it. Eventually and gentleman came out and told me to simply leave the car and they would deal with it. I did so, but there was no formal hand off or drop-off process.
