The young man who checked out our car was very nice. He upgraded us to a larger SUV which was very helpful. We had to return our car very early to catch our flight. I expected an email confirming our return but never received one. I finally called a week later and was told it was because of short staffing. Overall it was a very good experience.

Best customer service I’ve ever had with a rental car company. Quick, efficient, and friendly!
We didn't know this Avis office was located a long ways from the Albuquerque airport. We assumed it was located at the Avis rental car location where a shuttle takes you to the various agencies. WRONG!! We went to the Avis counter and found out this rental car location was located 20 miles away. By this time when we called the Avis location on 9501 Coors Blvd NW in Albuquerque, it was after 12 pm and the manager said the office closed at noon! WTF, my reservation was for noon and that is when they close!! I admit it was after 12 pm, but the manager said they would not stay open even if I left right away by taxi. They opened the next day at 8 am, but we couldn't wait until the next day so we cancelled. We never got any information for this Avis rental location that it was located a long ways from the airport and that we had to hire a taxi to get there and by the way, you had to be there by noon or they close shop for the day. They close at noon on Saturday and Sunday. They need to give the prospective renter this information. We would never have reserved with this remotely located location if we had this information. How is someone going to Albuquerque for the first time supposed to know all these pitfalls? Avis corporate needs to demand this small Avis dealer to shape up or lose their affiliation.

The office being outside of the airport reduced the cost, and the cab fare was not too expensive to get there. Pick up and drop off were both extremely easy! The car could have been washed better. We had to get some windex wipes to clean the inside of the windshield since it was very smeared and the outside mirrors were also needing to be cleaned to be able to use them.

I feel that Kayak deceived me into getting a prepaid rental with a group, RentalCar.com that in hindsight was like a sham. In the end, I wish I had not accepted it. I will never never never never never use Kayak again for anything. So thank you for that.

I finally got the car I wanted, meaning a reg. car :) as at first only a big truck was available (I’ve chosen this option to get a car that is available at the moment) and they were able to switch it in another location) I was very happy! I searched to pickup with ABQ airport. Apparently, the site placed me somewhere else. The airport location found my reservation at a different location and said it was already canceled. So they could help me, but not at the rate I reserved. I had to pay an additional $40 per day or about $200 total. So Kayak or priceline did not help me at all.

They would not call me back to confirm my reservation. I had called over a 2 day period; the day before my rental and the day of my rental. Another Hertz associate took my 3pm call to let me know they didn't have any availability and the associate I had been speaking with would be back in 10 minutes. She at least tried to help but the vehicle she found was not big enough. Luckily, Budget had a van I could rent and pick up at 4pm. I've been a loyal Hertz customer for years but this experience has ended Hertz receiving my hard earned money.

Pick up/drop off was fine. The problem was being upcharged for a car that was in no way an improvement. All basic features/nothing special in the car. The sales procedure for trying to upcharge customers at pickup is not welcoming. Just give them a good vehicle at the price they reserved.
I reserved a van for pickup and was not available ending up paying more for an SUV.

i will never book anything via kayak again and i will tell everyone i know the same thing — i was unable to cancel this reservation after my flight was delayed getting us into ABQ after the Dollar location closed. i had to make ANOTHER car rental booking and then I HAD TO PAY FOR BOTH RESERVATIONS. you have forever lost a customer network.

We reserved a car to be picked up a 5:00 pm and when we arrived, the Dollar counter was dark and closed. Word was they ran out of cars.
Rental desk was closed when I arrived (10:30p), although the other rental companies were still going strong. So I spent $50 and about 2 hours getting to my hotel that evening plus return to the airport the next morning. I asked for reimbursement for these expenses plus knocking a half-day off my rental term. No can do. Bye, bye Thrifty.

The car only had a half tank of gas instead of a full tank when we picked it up, CarPlay didn’t work properly, and the car only had 22,000 miles on it, but had a lot of wear and tear and stains already.

We made a reservation and have an expectation that the reservation will be ready when we arrive. It took over 2 hours to get the car we reserved after we arrived at the Thrifty counter; UNACCEPTABLE! After we were finally called to get the car, we said that waiting so long was not something customers should be subjected to and that telling us that the wait would only be 20 minutes was done to keep the customer from gong to another rental company. The agent said if we were not happy that we could rent elsewhere. Also, the window film was so thick hat we had to pull over to clean the inside of the windshield ourselves. Lastly, Thrifty reported the gas tank as full, however, the tank was 3/4 full. Lies and poor service unlike any other auto rental experience I have ever had.

Pick-up ay Thrifty could have gone better. After over two hours of waiting for our reserved car I was referred to their manager at Hertz who took care of this immediately. If this had occurred from the onset It would have been an "Excellent" fating overall.
