If you live locally, DO NOT rent from Thrifty. They do not advertise this on their webpage, and I didn't find out about this policy until after I had reserved (and paid for) the car, at which point they said there wasn't anything they could do to help me. It was too late to rent another car (I was leaving for a conference at 5am the next morning), and I had to cancel my attendance at the conference and the hotel, and ended up spending an hour on the phone trying to get refunds. I would recommend avoiding renting from Thrifty until they either update their rental policy or include this information on the booking site before someone rents from them.
We rented a car, I called local office and confirmed rental.. went to office at the airport to pick it up. They do not rent to anyone local you must have a flight in or out of airport. I was going on vacation my address was local in fact when I got to the counter she is like we can't rent to you your local I can sceen shot where it said that. Kayak or thrifty should have made it clearer on the rental process she explained it happens all the time we were a full day behind on vacation while we scrambled to find a new rental
My suv was very nice. It took care of our needs for traveling. The drop off was excellent. The pickup was not the best. The staff was not friendly and he tried to make us feel like we needed extra insurance. It was a bit of a hassle having to go out and check the vehicle and then wait for the same person to give information to about the vehicle. It would be so much better if someone could be outside looking the car over with you and then going over how to use the vehicle. We could not figure out how to use the cruise control. It was not clear in the manual either; therefore was not able to use it. Did not want to mess anything up. Thank you.
