Had to get a one way rental from Chicago to Mass. Had to go all the way downtown from airport. Woman at pick up was sick and should have been home. Car was brand new but blocked in and has to wait to get it out of tight spot by myself.

I rented a subcompact car (Kia Rio) for 3:00 p.m, and the cost came out to $86 and change. I arrived at about 3:05 - 3:10 and was told, "We were supposed to be closed at 3:00 and since you came late, we only have a minivan." A much larger, and less fuel-efficient vehicle than I had requested. After filling up the tank, and returning the minivan, I got the emailed receipt and realized that I was charged $107. So I spent more on gas, and was charged more for a vehicle that I had not even requested in the first place. The van (Chrysler Pacifica) itself was very clean, and equipped with some nice features. Best CarPlay implementation I've seen thus far, and the lane assist was a good touch.

No cars available at the reserved time. Unacceptable. They did find us a car at another location, but it cost us extra time, money, and stress. Thanks for nothing, Budget. Oh, also, the agent never explained the EToll device. She said there'd be no tolls on our route.

Location was a bit confusing to find but when I did the customer service was friendly. Had a free upgrade. Then drop off at the airport was a breeze took less than a minute.

Kayak allowed me to make a reservation at an Enterprise location that is closed. The Kayak system did not share my phone number or email with Enterprise so they had no way to contact me until I called after arriving at the closed facility. I then had to walk over a mile in sub-zero temperatures in an unfamiliar city to get to the open location. The Enterprise people were great, but Kayak let me down.

Avis cancelled my rental reservation a couple of days before my trip because they did not have the truck I rented at the location that they had it listed online at. They expected me to go all the way to an airport location to pick up my rental and on top of that for me to pay an additional $1700 more than what the price I reserved it originally for!! HORRIBLE experience in every way!!
