They let me make an online reservation for our vacation, then the day of the pick up they call and said there was no vehicles available besides a 7 passenger van with a price tag of almost double what we were going to pay. This is horrible business. I understand mistakes happen but they should have given us a discount on the van so we had a vehicle.

We messed up on the date Hertz was able to revise their system yet this led to a low grade economy car not ideal for a 4-5 hour trip. Why are we still driving in vehicles that only get 21.5 mpg? That’s ridiculous at these prices.

Pickup at Albany airport took 20 minutes even though I had reserved and paid ahead. There is no signage outside for where the rental car counters are. The Hertz staffperson had to collect all my information again even though I had put it in the reservation. Policies and costs related to the toll payments were communicated in a confusing manner. I believe the person next to me received inaccurate information about gas charges. In Boston the dropoff location was poorly signed and the key drop was hard to find. The key drop had instructions to write down the mileage and fuel level on the rental jacket but there was no pen available. The instructions said to include the rental contract with the rental jacket but it's not clear to me what that referred to.
