Unfortunately, the experience was awful. First I arrived and they told me they didn’t have the car type I had reserved. They offered me a downgrade and when I inspected the car it was 10+ years old with multiple large dents and the yellow tire pressure signal turned on after starting the car. I asked them why the tire pressure signal was on and they said it was likely a mechanical error but their air machine wasn’t working regardless. I asked them if they expected me to go to a gas station to inflate the tire, and their response was “yes.” Did they care for my safety… clearly not. I asked if they had any other vehicles on the premises and they said they could only put me in a Dodge van or charger. I had requested an suv. However, I would have to pay extra since those cars would be considered an “upgrade.” This was very poor service. Fortunately, simultaneously, another person pulled up to return their car and I asked for their car instead. When they said it would take a while to detail it, another car I suppose magically appeared because the person working the counter said I could take the “manager’s car” and they wouldn’t charge me for gas. This was strange to me… do managers of car rental vendors get their own cars? In any case, I took the car (Toyota Camry, also a downgrade) and drove it 2 hours to my final destination. When I arrived, the tire pressure signal appeared on this car as well. When I went to inflate the tires, I learned that the max psi should be 50 psi. However, one tire was in the 20’s, two tires were in the high 50’s, and the last tire was in the 70’s. This was ridiculously unsafe! When I returned the car, I asked them to make a note that I shouldn’t be charged for gas as the attendant explained to me when I first received the car. However, they didn’t make a note in my paperwork so the person explained I would be charged. Fortunately, the same attendant I worked with on my initial day was present and I told them what happened and they resolved the issue. Finally, one silver lining! I will never rent a car from this company again and strongly recommend no one do the same. EuropCar and Fox have awful vehicles and even worse service at this location in Jacksonville, FL.
