I like the team at Cartagena. They made for a great experience and situation the exceptionally good for me, as a first time visitor and Alamo client. Where there was plenty of opportunity to take advantage of me because I was not from that country, I was embraced with assistance, comfort knowledge and reassuring great guidance. And not having a full command of the language, but being able to communicate in a professional and constructive manner, without all the awkward Foreigner concerns, was a phenomenal asset to receive.

The pickup and dropped of. It’s weird. I was afraid to have an agent to come And tell me to do not park there. They don’t have an official drop off area. Other than that. It’s all good.
They canceled my reservation in the middle of the night when I was on a plane to my destination. When I arrived at my destination I found out there was no SUV’s for me. They refused to honor my reservation and provide a replacement available car, they just canceled it. NEVER USE AVIS!

The staff, helpfulness, their friendliness was beyond expectations! The crossing from the airport to the rental office is rather dangerous especially with luggage. Signs are the airport would be helpful letting people know where it is and maybe a shuttle service. It’s not far, just dangerous. Traffic and crossing the street. People do not stop at pedestrian crossings most of the time.

The address of the location is wrong. Was on a call with an Avis rep. for 30 minutes which couldn’t help me. I ended up not renting the car as the eventual rental place mentioned online that they are closing at 5pm, instead of 6pm when I planned to rent the car.

People in the agency gave the car to another customer, in spite of having reservation
Relatively smooth pickup process and easy dropoff. I would recommend any travelers be sure to take a picture of the damage sheet and the car because the person receiving your car at the return did not have a copy and thought we put the dent in the passenger door. Once we showed the photo it was all fine, but we would’ve had trouble without that. Overall the Localiza staff were friendly and helpful on both sides. I would rent from them again.

Car performed well driving in very treacherous conditions in Medellin. Narrow streets and very steep hills. Service was excellent in terms of picking up car, returning car and shuttling us to and from airport (MDE). One small issue: Rear tire made noise, probably scalloped, but minor in comparison to driving in Medellin and countryside. Thank you! Would use you guys again.
The office was easy to find and the staff very polite. The instructions for returning the vehicle were unclear and the signing at the airport was non-existent. The guys in the parking lot were dishonest in telling us to go into the parking lot (where we picked up the car), thus incurring the cost of parking. The car was adequate, but not great.

First of all I had a hard time to figure out where was Hertz, since there is no sign and it is under a local rental company that don’t even have a Hertz Sign. Then there is extra fees at time of Pick up. They give you an option to pay for them to clean the car when you drop it off or if you decide to turn it in dirty then the clean up fee is more. Also when I did the reservation, I order an Automatic car and they gave me a a stick shift. When I went inside to tell them they didn’t give me an automatic, they wanted to charge me more which they did. At time of return they came to get the car outside and had a total different contract showing I supposedly rented the car for 1 day and needed to go pay for two more days, Until I showed them the original contract showing that I had rented the car from May 27 till May 30th. Then all of sudden it was ok and I didn’t need to pay for the extra two days. The y tried scamming me to many times and it is not trust worthy. I prefer to pay for the car when I do the reservation to avoid paying extra, like I did. I reserved an automatic car for 3 days for $122.00 but at the end I had to pay a total of $186.00. I did ad full coverage which it was an extra $10.00 a day which it would have been $152.00 but I had to pay $186.00.

Hertz rents through another company called Localiza. No where in the confirmation is that indicated, so I was looking for a Hertz office that does not exist. By chance I entered localiza’s office to ask for the hertz office and they told me it was them. Then they could not find the reservation record so it took a while to get going. The rented car was advertised for 5 people, when only 4 could barely fit and the trunk was non existent. I had to get an upgrade. Once I got going the experience was fine

The service at the counter was good and the car was in perfect shape.
When I arrive at the airport to pick up my car I was not able to find Hertz anywhere, I had to go out of the airport and still didn’t find it, I started looking online in google maps for the Hertz counter and there wasn’t any Hertz counter at MDE airport, the reservation didn’t had any phone number, and there wasn’t anyone in the airport the knew about Hertz. After making calls to different numbers online, someone from ACE Rent A Car was very friendly and told me that Hertz in MDE was represented by “Localiza rent a car”. This was not indicated at the reservation, neither the airport people were informed about it. Please advice next time, I spend a lot of time looking, and almost had to do another reservation in other rent a car place.
Not all the expenses were clear. They took a picture with a cellphone of my credit card both ways in from and behind that makes my feel insecure. They didnt tell me about transit restrictions at the beginning, and they were unable of get a permission. The worse experience
