At the pick-up counter, the agent did not clearly explain the coverage options, and grew frustrated when I asked questions. I was then directed to a pick-up stall with no car in it. Another agent assisted me in switching to a different vehicle, but this must not have been changed on the back-end, because my final receipt reflects a different vehicle that was dropped off over 24 hours after I dropped off my vehicle. I am contesting this extra day's worth of charges but have not yet received a refund.

Worst rental experience in my lifetime 59. Arrived at BWI rental center at 10 pm, got in line, at 12 pm, counter asked us to move to AVIA line since cars ran out. In line at AVIS until 3 am, counter informed there were no more cars. Had a reservation. Waited in center until 6:30 am when counter reopened to receive car. Contract not adjusted for picking up car next day, car due in at noon not giving us enough time to get home from airport and pickup up our dog. Make arrangements to adjust dates w/customer service, give us until 6am next day Sunday. Drop car off at center in Dover at 6 am, no drop box, center closed? Now what? Take car home to not take risk, call customer service, they cannot find rental in system, finally working thru rep language barrier, rental is located. Informs me returning on Monday requires a $475 payment. Does not understand anything I am saying concerning what happened starting Friday night when the rental nightmare began! Wife takes over since my patience has run out and resolves on drop off Monday morning. Horrible experience!!

Rental agent Mike was terrific- but could not provide the vehicle reserved - a samall passenger car and could only provide a heavy Toyota pick up truck the got mediocre mileage. The vehicle annunciation panel kept saying that service is necessary - kind of scary!! Vehicles brakes were soft then grabby; acceleration response was soft then jumpy. Overall sounded like the battery was weak but it got us there. At return facility no one at the location at 8:00 am at the ACY location- would not allow us to extend the return time w/o additional day charge - dad. Pete@therundels.com

When I arrived at the location to pick up my rental car I was told that they don't have a car. I said that was not acceptable and asked why my rental was confirmed. I only got a shrug and puzzled faces and heard there was nothing they could do. After pressing very hard one person went on the computer and told me that I could go to Reagan National Airport and get a car there, which I did. At the airport I got a car but when I asked for a discount or upgrade for the massive frustration and delay I was told there was nothing they could do because the airport location had a different owner. Not only did I not get a discount or upgrade, I ended up having to pay more than I had agreed to when I made the reservation. All in all the experience was a 2 out of 10. The only thing worse would have been not to get a car at all.
