They weren’t up front about the total cost. They charge you an extra $500 deposit if you use your insurance ( unless you have American Express and then ask for their collision insurance only and they’ll charge you $15 per day for insurance). The sales representative were misleading on the phone and quite frankly rude in person. Let’s get to the car, it had multiple dents and it had a stench , as if the car had water damage, it was a very unpleasant experience.

The employees used excellent customer service skills when I picked up the car and dropped off the car. I will definitely be using U Save Rent-A-Car again.
Pick up was fine, car was ok. Problem was on return they insisted on charging an extra $75 for a small amount of sand on the floor and a tiny bit on the back seat. They said the car needed to be returned in the same condition it was rented. What??? The contract states the $75 is charged only for 'excessive amounts of trash, debris or sand'. Total scam. The total amount of sand in the car was barely a handful and would easily be removed by a quick vaccuuming. We are in mid-sixties and have been renting cars our entire adult life and never encountered such an unreasonable charge not to mention the rudeness on the part of staff. They apparently aren't concerned about repeat business if they do this on a regular basis, which I assume is part of their business model. I've rented in PR 4 times before and never had this happen. Rented there because they had best price. Never again.
Serious understaffing issues. Don't expect the pickup or dropoff to go quickly or well. Expect there to be problems with the car that are not mentioned because the agents are rushed. Add an 45 minutes to your airport arrival time to account for the delayed shuttle or time spent in line to return your vehicle. Don't feel rushed when picking up. I'd been there so long that I was eager to leave and didn't notice that the driver's side mirror was cracked in half. U-Save noticed and marked it as damage on the car, but there was so much marked that I didn't see it until I drove away. I definitely would've insisted on a car with functioning mirrors (PR traffic is wild. Gotta have mirrors.) Save yourself the hassle. Get a car from a known agency *at the airport* so you don't have to catch a shuttle.
