Great service, got the car I reserved. It was clean. Note that if you have CDW insurance coverage on your credit card and plan on using that (and not purchasing theirs), you must provide the written proof from your credit card company upon picking up the car. Otherwise, they won't rent their vehicle. They're also off site a few KM away from EDI airport. They have a free shuttle, but you must allow an extra 30 minutes in your plans especially if you return the car and fly out. Knowing these details will make your experience much better.

Dropping off the car after hours no one let us know that we needed to pay an additional fee. Also, we had to drop it off at a nearby gas station, however the attendant there had no idea what we were talking about. After arguing with him for ages, making us late to get to the airport, he finally contacted his manager who explained the car return process to him and we were able to drop off the car.

We had to delay our pickup of our rental car since the streets were all blocked off in Edinburgh (due to the Queen at St. Giles Cathedral). The gentlemen at the Easirent Edinburgh were so easy to work with and really understanding when we had to make changes to our plans due to the Queen's presence in the city. When we finally picked up our vehicle on Wednesday, the process was smooth and they had it all ready for us. We had a great experience with Easirent.

Beware of mandatory insurance costs which they do not tell you about and you only find out after your credit card has been charged. Will never use Kayak again.

This car rental branch will pursue even the tiniest scratch that would be considered normal wear and tear at most locations. Though their initial price may be cheap, do not be fooled as they will get their money on the back end. I was charged 365 pounds for one scratch less than an inch in length underneath the bottom frame of the door and a scuff on the boot from pulling suitcases in and out. I also witnessed two other customers being given the same shakedown treatment for damage. My worst car rental experience in 35 years. I feel sorry for anyone who has an actual damage incident. I will be escalating my concerns with Easirent corporate and the appropriate authorities.

There was an unexpected charge that wasn’t noted when I booked and paid for the rental online, months before our trip. It was for licenses and fees as well as a premium location tax. None of which was noted at time of booking but added another £15 to our rental cost. Other than that all went well with the rental.

Be aware that at this europcar (Glasgow) they will cancel your reservation if you are not there to get the car BEFORE your time. Then they will try to upsell you because “unfortunately we don’t have the car you reserved anymore since you were late.” It happened to every person in line when we were there. We had a reservation for a suv for $560 and they would only rent us a $1500 “upgraded” suv. It’s all an upsell scam. Luckily we walked across to AVIS and they were great to work with. We were able to get an suv on the spot with the insurance for $750. My advice is to avoid Europcar Glasgow at all cost. I can’t speak for any other Europcar locations.

They did not hold my reservation. I needed an automatic; my entire vacation depended upon getting this car (I cannot drive a manual). Showed up to get the car at 9am that morning -- NO CAR. No automatic. Then, the man behind the counter yelled at me when I told him how frustrated I was. He said he would never rent a car to me. I said, "What an empty threat--you don't have a car to rent to me." I will NEVER rent from any Hertz location ever again. Their company has lost me COMPLETELY, and I plan on telling everyone how awful they were.

My husband and I took a trip to Scotland, which we were very excited about. We reserved a car in advance, a manual gas vehicle, for our road trip all across the country. Upon arriving to pick up our vehicle, we were told that instead of a manual gas vehicle, they would be giving us an automatic electric vehicle. I voiced my discomfort to the staff at have an EV, but we were assured there were tons of charging stations all across the country and that we could “even charge at our hotel or Airbnbs” in the evenings. Unfortunately, none of the things the staff told us was true. There are not a lot of charging places in Scotland, we could consistently had to drive out of our way to reach them, but also most of them don’t take credit cards. It took us several days and many hours to figure out how to set up an account with the company that owns many of the charging stations, Chargeplace Scotland. Charging at our Airbnbs was also not really an option as it typically makes the hosts uncomfortable, and would get about a 20% charge for charging overnight. We spent over 16+ hours of our vacation either trying to find charging locations, waiting for a charging spot to open, driving to a charging location to find it was not working, or just sitting waiting for the car to charge. In lieu of our spoiled vacation, Hertz offered a $50 rental certificate, which does nothing for an entire ruined trip. I would not recommend using Hertz in Scotland, and if you travel to Scotland, do not let them talk you into an electric vehicle.
