When I picked up the car in Kelowna the car was dirty on the outside due to the environmental ashes from near by forest fires. I blame no one for that as it is understandable. The agent told me to do the walk around of the vehicle on my own and if there were any damages to report back. I did the walk around and did not notice any marks or scratches on it. When I returned the vehicle the agent noticed a scratch on the vehicle. I do not know if it was already there as I did not recall scratching myself either. For this I have been charged an extra fee. I understand these things happen but I wish the car had been cleaner on pickup so I could have determined whether it was previously there or not .

At time of booking it was not clear that I was not getting insurance directly with Hertz. At pick up, they tried to upsell me on the insurance again, even tough I had paid for it. They had no records of the insurance being paid. Also, not impressed that there is a surcharge on winter tires in WINTER in CANADA. Winter tires are required to drive over mountain passes, so in my opinion it seems like a money grab that is not disclosed up front. Doing the minimum legal requirement just looks bad in my opinion.
