Car Hire at Lajes Airport

Great company to rent a car in Terceira.. Friendly staff, good clean cars. Highly recommend them.

Super smooth experience overall - loved the car, flexibility with pickup, and friendly staff. However, the pickup and drop off were a little sus and left us feeling less than sure of a few things. For the pickup, the employee did everything under the desk and didn’t explain what she was doing at all. For example, she took my credit card (I assumed for the deposit) for a couple mins and then gave it back to get up & say “I’ll show you the car now”. I asked her if she had put the $1300 hold on and she said “oh well I was going to do that later - I can do it now”. For the drop off, the employee approached us in the parking lot with casual clothing (no uniform or indicator that he worked for Hertz) and told us he could take the keys and inspect it now. We were just unsure if he worked there or not (wanted to take care of the car & avoid scams) so asked to do it at the desk and it did end up being him. At the end, I didn’t get a receipt for total amount charged & was informed we need to email Hertz for that. These aspects of the rental were not our favorite and it was all just a little interesting.
