The car was not the one requested. The one we got was a Chrysler minivan with a serious steering issue (u joints or tie rod problem) that made it a bear to drive on our 1000 mile trip. The entertainment system USB connection and bluetooth stopped working halfway through, so the carplay /navigation was unavailable. The desk rep in Boston seaport was ver much “take it or leave it” instead of helping solve a customer’s problem. Will think twice before doing Budget again.

The car wasn't ready when we arrived so we had to wait for an hour past our scheduled pick up time. When a car was finally ready, it was a sedan instead of an SUV like we reserved (and paid for). There were no pick up questions (e.g., do I want to waive the insurance, etc) or drop off instructions. I was never informed in advance that this location does not have after hours drop off, which became an issue for us as we are local to Boston and had nowhere to park the car over night. I would never rent from this location again.

It was difficult to collect and return the vehicle, especially the latter. The vehicle needed an oil change (according to the dashboard), was only half-full, and had a flat right front tire. Rather than replacing the tire, they filled it with air using one of the cigarette lighter portable pumps, and then gave me a pump. The pump had stripped threads. I had to fill the tire daily during my one week trip by turning on the car, plugging in the pump, then holding the hose on the valve stem while it pumped for a few minutes. I notified the return crew when I brought the car back, but I suspect they will give the car the same way to the next person (based on their response to my comment).

I will probably not rent form Avis or Budget ever again. They ended up charging over $1330 when I had arranged a car for $466. Customer service could not help and the online escalation team has yet to get back to me. I feel taken advantage of and ignored.
