Most rental car agencies in Jerusalem have negative reviews. We had a good experience with Sixt. Good car, competent check-in and check-out. However, any time we rent outside the US, we recommend protecting yourself with photos of the car before and after, asking questions about tolls and late return fees. The drivers near Jerusalem are aggressive, so we paid for the low-cost CDW even though our credit card covered us.

If you rent for 1-2 days you have a limited amount of km to use (only 250km). If you exceed this, they charge 0.40 for every extra km. For us, we had to pay double the rental price because of this, it was excessive.

The staff at the Jerusalem office were terrible. 2 did not speak English so their difficulty with helping me was understandable but one spoke perfect English and was awful to me and made the customer next to me cry. He shamed me for asking questions about what was covered with the insurance package.

Customer service was terrible. I booked two nine passenger vans, none were ready and one wasn’t even there. I switched to a 5 passenger and 7, and it took them almost 2 hours to get it ready and reserve it for me. On top of that, the price was very expensive for the insurance. I then found out my chase visa covers insurance but the manager didn’t feel like reversing it and said “they don’t really cover it’s a hassle”

Pickup took us almost two hours. The first car they gave us, the battery was dead. The next car was fine, but was diesel so was much more expensive to fill up, but we were tired and frustrated by then, so we took it. Drop off was not good either. They didn’t tell us where or how to drop it off and the signage is not good. A quick explanation when we picked it up would have been helpful. Also, you need a code to drop it off (to get into the parking lot) and they never gave it to us.
