We inadvertently booked the downtown Albany location but intended to book at the Albany airport. This may not have been completely clear during the options available during booking. We understand and agreed upon the non changeable and non refundable booking policy but based on our senior status with some confusion it would have been nice if Hertz KAYAK to provide us some wiggle room to change the pickup and / or return location even if it meant a slight increase in fees.

Pickup at Albany airport took 20 minutes even though I had reserved and paid ahead. There is no signage outside for where the rental car counters are. The Hertz staffperson had to collect all my information again even though I had put it in the reservation. Policies and costs related to the toll payments were communicated in a confusing manner. I believe the person next to me received inaccurate information about gas charges. In Boston the dropoff location was poorly signed and the key drop was hard to find. The key drop had instructions to write down the mileage and fuel level on the rental jacket but there was no pen available. The instructions said to include the rental contract with the rental jacket but it's not clear to me what that referred to.
