The hotel lived up to its image as a grand old establishment, and the furnishings and decor were lavish and extravagant! The hotel was clean and met all our needs very well. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and the car provided in the mornings was very handy until we knew our way around a bit better. The hotel has a lovely piano, and some quirky USPs like serving mid-afternoon sherry...
The building is old and, although kept spotlessly clean, shows signs of wear and tear. Our room was rather gloomy and the brocade silk-style bed covers felt a bit tacky and I didn't like sleeping under them, and would have preferred simple cotton sheets and covers. However, this is not a complaint - more to inform a potential visitor of what to expect. This hotel is charming, and well-priced, and ...Read more
Old world charm and the best sleep I have had in a hotel in years. Loved everything about the place.
The only thing I could think to improve was the morning coffee.
This is our fourth time staying here and it won't be pur last. Love the feel and look and the breakfast is delicious. The afternoon cookies and sherry in the parlor re. Real highlight
The rooms are all done in a charming and comfortable Victorian manner. The location is in a great, safe neighborhood with an excellent Italian deli down the street. The parking lot is just across the street and at $30/night is a real bargain for SF. A very nice breakfast is included in the very reasonable room price. This is a great place to stay in SF overnight or for a longer visit.
Well located hotel near Japan Town. Vintage Victorian decor in faded condition. Room was large, breakfast adequate.
It was beautiful. It's not what I would call a luxurious hotel. But you are staying in a historic site full of antiques. Very nice. Staff was amazing.
Nice decor, comfortable room, great location
The heating didn't work
Beautiful building. Staff amazing and helpful. Tea and Sherry in an amazing atmosphere in a great location.
Part of the woodwork in our room was broken. Building was built in 1800's and as long as I am not charged for the damage fine by me.
Ambiance
The door to our room and a gap on the top between it and the door frame. Took away from our privacy.
Definitely reflected the name! All of the Libby was conducive to resting and to conversations throughout the day. 2 fireplaces with chairs and couches set around for multiple conversation areas, or to sit quietly, or just to read.
